The Prologue

Hello!

I am Sumana, a visual artist based in Bengaluru, India. My art serves as a gentle reflection of the universal human struggle: finding balance between our inner desires, our rigid logic, and the vast, quiet spaces in between. Through my work, I create immersive visual portals that invite viewers to step away from the real world, float into their own imaginations, and pause.

My creative practice is deeply rooted in storytelling, drawing heavy inspiration from the boundless realms of fantasy literature and the soothing philosophies of Japanese healing literature (Iyashikei). Together, these influences allow me to visualize pastel dreamscapes designed to act as an emotional sanctuary from reality.

As a student of the Japanese language and traditional Japanese Calligraphy, I am continuously working on concepts that bridge tangible reality with ethereal fantasy. Working primarily across acrylics and delicate watercolours, my portfolio is an ever-evolving exploration of color, cosmic wonder, and peace—an ongoing daydream unfolding one canvas at a time.
